Homemade Exercise Equipment, A Cheap Alternative

Most people think at some time in their life's that they could do a bit more exercise, I know I have! The thing that stops a great many people from actually doing so however is the expense associated with home gym equipment or the heavy membership fees local gyms seem to be charging these days.

The good news is there is an alternative for the cost conscious fitness enthusiast or budding exerciser. If you have a bit of innovation there is no reason that you can not knock up some homemade exercise equipment. This way you can obtain a rather comprehensive set of equipment at little to not cost.

Plumbing and the home gym?

It is easy to create some popular home gym items using simple pipes that are available cheaply from your local plumbing store, I'll bet you may even have some old pipe lying around in the garage? You can then use this pipe to make a simple chin up bar by simply using some nuts and bolts and suspending it from the ceiling. It is easy to make some push up grips with a few lengths of pipe, all you need to do is put a few bends in the pipe in the right places and you have a very cheap, simple piece of homemade exercise equipment you can be proud of.

Resistance Or Weight Training Equipment

I'll bet you have seen the adverts on TV where some bulky guy and a lean looking girl are working out on this huge, hulking home gym that takes up more space than the average family car, right? Thing is these pieces of equipment look seriously impressive but they also carry an impressive price tag and many people just do not have the space for such big machines. However resistance training machines are easily made in the home using a few pieces of rope and some pulleys and they can be just as effective at getting the job done. You could hang a pulley from the ceiling, thread a piece of rope through it and tie a weight to the other end. This can now be used for pull downs, arm exercises and a variety of other simple exercises.

Resistance equipment can be easily made at home using springs and rubber tubes. You could tie a rubber tube to the wall or a pillar, tie a handle to it and use that to do some arm, leg or shoulder exercises among many others. With a little bit of thought anything is possible using just simple pieces of hardware found around the home or in the local DIY store.
