Isometric Exercise Equipment, Is It Necessary?
The definition of isometric exercise is an exercise you perform pushing against something
that does not move such as a wall for the required resistance. This means you do not really require any isometric exercise equipment to use this
as a form of training. This was a very popular form of exercise going back some twenty years ago but it is not very popular in this modern
age.
The reason for this is the fact that the strength gained through isometric exercise is only within twenty or so degrees of the angle you
hold.
Using weights allows you to improve your strength through a far wider range of motion and this is why weight training is now favoured as
opposed to isometric training. Another drawback of isometric exercise is that it has the rather undesirable effect of increasing blood pressure
so people with weak blood vessels run the risk of rupturing a blood vessel.
Isometrics became popular when weightlifters started to take synthetic male hormones more comonly known as anabolic steroids, they then
claimed that the isometric exercises they were performing had made then exceptionally strong but in reality this was due to the steroids more
than the isometric exercises.
The steroids enabled the weightlifters to recover much faster from hard workouts so they were now able to carry out far more strenuous
workouts with the direct result of making them stronger. The way to make your muscles stronger is to exercise with resistance and you can do this
with weights or isometrically by pushing against something that does not move, this is the basis of isometric exercise equipment.
The great thing about isometric exercise is that it is very easy to include in your daily routine and it can be performed just about anywhere,
all it requires is some discipline. For instance you could tighten and flex your glut and abdominal muscles while sat on your couch watching TV
or even in the chair at your office. You can perform simple arm stretches while standing against a wall or door frame or even while cleaning the
floor.
Isometric training is great because you can target specific muscle groups and problem areas with ease. In this way you can spend less time
exercising so freeing up more time for your busy lifestyle. Another good bonus is that when you exercise specific muscle groups you will create
lean muscle mass which will shed unwanted fat without ever needing to visit the gym.
It will please you to know that lean muscles require more energy to exist than fat, so when you work these lean muscles you are constantly
increasing the amount of fat you are burning.
